From the Detroit club (since they were celebrating their anniversary in South Haven), we were joined by Dan and Elise Paterek. Jackie and Paul represented the Pirates. (*Jackie would like to point out that the wives have the men wear crazy hats so they don't lose them and can find them but you notice she doesn't have one on Paul!)
Ahoy, THANK YOU BLOSSOMLAND PIRATES
3rd Annual Cancer Fundraiser - Wine Tasting with Appetizers, was club supported as another successful fundraiser for the Relay for Life on Friday, May 13th at Lemon Creek Winery.
Guests enjoyed 6 wine tastings, light appetizers, and a glass of wine of our choice. Additional wine purchases had a donation from the winery added to the donation. The Blossomland Pirates collected items and contributed a gift basket for the auction. Our theme was purple and thank you to those for contents given and special thanks to Brenda for compiling into a really neat basket that many people made comment on (not sure if it was the purple flip flops, wine coolers or the really cool purple Venic booze donated by Bob that got the most raves! We had a retail value of $60 and the basket at auction had winning bid well over that amount.
Larry Ward (A Blossomland Pirate), who has been touched by cancer in many ways, has been supporting Relay for Life for several years. He has climbed to the top of Mt Denali and several other peaks and shouted out all the names of those with cancer that had touched his life. Larry joined this Relay for Life team in an effort to raise funds for this important cause. Larry & Linda (members of the club) were hosts at the event Relaying to provide help and encouragement to the American Cancer Society in their fight against this disease that has touched so many of our lives. Thank you for allowing the club to participate - we look forward to next year for the 4th Annual event.
From the desk of another Blossomland Pirate, Renee E Reid-Smith, CBSP, Commissioner MCSA Community Development LiaisonBerrien County Cancer Service, Inc., upcoming events to put on your calendar is the "Tee Off for Tatas", the club is looking into how we can support as a club project something for this Indian Lake Hills Golf Club fundraiser with the Susan G. Koman of SW Michigan group that benefits the Berrien County Cancer Service. The golf outing that usually is in June that Denise Bohn did for local cancer patients, dueto the horrific and sudden loss of Denise, the date has been moved out to August 6th. Renee will give more information from the Committee to help re-organize this event....so save the date to party and we'll be updating with more information as it becomes available.
