Other phun we had during 2019 include. Enjoying a few Margaritas on National Margarita Day, March 22.
Enjoyed a summer day at Indian Lake where we enjoyed phriendship and a cruise around the lake with our hosts Bob & Terrie Dutkiewicz.
Annual Beach Sweep on Sept. 21. All PHiP clubs are required to have an environmental project and this is ours. We clean the summer's trash at Lincoln Twp. Park on Lake Michigan, just north of Grande Mere State Park. With the high water levels and storm erosion the beach shrunk this year from it's usual 20+ yards of sand to about 5 yards. And the dune grass was virtually completely gone.
We assisted with several Relay for Life fundraisers this year. First was a pub crawl for a local team. This was followed by a Wine Tasting at Lemon Creek Winery. This is an annual fund raiser for the Climbing for Cancer team that two of our members are involved with. The last one was where one of our members hiked the entire Appalachian Trail (all 2190 miles) this past year. Larry has long been climbing mountains around the country and when he assents the tallest peak in each state he shouts out well over 100 names of people who have lost to cancer or are battling this disease. He hiked this to raise funds for his Clumbing For Cancer team and the club did make a donation. Lastly our club took turns manning a Ninja Warrior Course during the counties Relay for Cancer Festival in June.
Our President represented the club at the Great Lakes Region Meeting on April 27 which is always a great opportunity to meet with other clubs and exchange ideas.
We had a total of 6 members attend this year's Meeting of the Minds in Key West. This is the annual PHiP meeting held in Key West. Those that say Disney is the happiest place on earth haven't been to Key West with 3500 phellow Parrot Heads!
In November we held our annual elections. This year Danielle Zebell was elected Vice President. She replaced Brenda Kovarik who has retired / relocated to Florida where she and husband Jay continue to be members of the club.
In December we held our annual Christmas Phlocking with a Christmas Sock contest and Stocking gift exchange, complete with the usual White Parrot steals. There's a few pictures of the party below.
